Browser tips: ( 2 for Internet Explorer4.0 Win95/98 ) Internet Explorer4.0 Tip 1
One fast way to speed up your Web surfing is to check your browser setting to see if it is set to refresh the Web sites you visit every time Explorer starts up, every time you visit them or never. Follow the steps below to set your browser how you like.
Step 1. open your browser, then go to View / Internet Options.

Step 2. Then go to the Temporary Internet Files (see example below), and click settings.
Step 3. Then check to see your settings,
for the fastest browsing check Never, and just refresh when ever you need to. The next fastest is Every visit to the page (which is what I use), but I would definitely keep it off Every time you start Internet Explorer. Just play around with it, it should help save a little time.

Internet Explorer4.0 Tip 2
Disabling Active Desktop (big memory hog).
Step 1. First select Start/Settings/Controls Panel and double click the Add/Remove programs icon. Scroll through the list on the tab to find the Microsoft Internet Explorer desktop, highlight it, and click the Add/Remove button as fast as you can.
Step 2. You can also restore some settings by selecting Start/Settings/Active Desktop/Customize my Desktop, then under the Web tab is a setting, View My Active Desktop as a Web Page (see example below), that inflicts its own special tortures. Un click it. Be sure to click the Apply button when you're done.
