<META> Menu List
|
DEFINITION The <META> tag is used within the <HEAD> tag to embed document meta information (information about information). Such information can be extracted by servers/clients and used in identifying, indexing, and cataloging specialized document meta information. |
SUGGESTED STYLE/USAGE Meta information can make information more accessible to spiders and robots for automatic indexing. It will also make information more accessible to other programs you might use to help manage an html document collection. No universally defined HTTP-EQUIV values exist; these are determined by the user and robot/agent owners. Often when a robot/agent is declared to support a specific HTTP-EQUIV value, it quickly proliferate around the Web. Some robots record all the meta information, so specialized or focused data searches can use the information even if it is not standardized. |
