Below is a list of Web status messages, and what they mean. The Status-Code element is a three-digit number sent in response to the request, alerting the browser to the success or failure of the request. Which can provide some information for a person trying to make sense of what went wrong.

200: OK, response was successful.

201: Created

202: Accepted

204: No content

301 Moved Permanently

302: Moved Temporarily

304 Not Modified

400: Bad request

401: Moved Permanently

403: Forbidden
Problem: You tried to access a password protected page or a CGI/BIN.
Solution: Check to see that you didn't type the URL wrong. You can't access cgi/bins from a web page as far as I know, so just try new URL.

404: Not found
Problem: Your browser found the computer on which the Web site is or was hosted, but no such page was found. The site's owner may have removed the page, the page may be down temporarily for maintenance, or the site may no longer exist.
Solution: Work back through the URL as if it were a directory path. For example, first try shortening the URL from 'www.gifart.com/newbie' to 'www.gifart.com'.

500: Internal Server Error

501: Not Implemented

502: Bad Gateway

503: Service Unavailable
