Tip #16: Rounded Corners 2
This tutorial will come in handy for interfaces and buttons mostly. It shows you how to make nice sharp rounded corners in Adobe PhotoShop 5.5.

Step 1: Create a new window (go to file – new... or shortcut key ctrl+N). Create the window any size your project requires.

Step 2: Select the rectangular marquee tool (shortcut key M) and trace a square or a rectangle the size your project requires.

Step 3: Open your channel window. Fill the selection with white and deselect (ctrl – D).

Step 4: Select The gaussian blur effect (Effect – Blur – Gaussian blur). The more you blur it the rounder the corners will be. For this example I chose 3.5.

Step 5: Select Adjust levels (Image – Adjust – Levels or ctrl – L).Collapse levels towards the middle until the edges look clear.

Step 6:  Now, load the marquee selection of your new shape (ctrl – click on the channel alpha 1 layer).Click on the layer tab to go back to the layer window. Create a new layer and fill the selection with the color of your choice.
